Gucci Resort 2012

Italian fashion house Gucci presents its Gucci Resort 2012 line designed by Frida Giannini. Her sharp and square designs match with up with bright citrus and fuchsia colour blocks beautifully. The collection is simple yet sophisticated and striking.

The accompanying advertising campaign is also a marvel! Skillfully shot by Mert & Marcus and featuring gorgeous model Karmen Pedaru, it matches the spirit of the collection in colour, contrast and feel. Very well done, Gucci!

Camper To&ether With Veronique Branquinho

With summer around the corner, it’s time for that long-awaited wardrobe reshuffle. Out with the old and in with the colourful!

Spanish shoemaker Camper – bright and cheeky as always – have gone crazy this season, not without the help of Veronique Branquinho. The Belgian-born fashion designer is collaborating on a small line of delicious-looking shoes. Actually, they call them sandals, but it’s really a classic espadrille with the sophistication of a high heel. Leather and interwoven patterns are complemented with strong blocks of turquoise, purple and raspberry to produce cheerful Summer shoes fit for beach and evening out alike.

Just throw on a maxi, pick up the sunnies and go order a cocktail!

Camper Together now available at your local Camper store. Covent Garden is a good one.

Gia – A Lovely New Fashion Mag

It’s not every day that you find a fashion magazine online that is overflowing with features, uncluttered by tasteless ads. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I stumbled upon Gia. Made in Bulgaria out of all places, it is 100-something pages of excellent editorials and big bold photographs. And it is available free online – grab it here.

Nothing like a fresh new mag to accompany the morning coffee!

I especially like Antoine De La Roche’s photo serie In Between, an example of which is above. You can find the rest towards the end of the issue.

Yohji Yamamoto at the V&A

The first UK retrospective of the enigmatic Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto is now on at the V&A in London. It is a chronological journey of his career from the early 80s to today, displaying the most avant-garde and convention-challenging design pieces.

V&A’s Gallery 38 is transformed into a brightly lit industrial space, with a messy wall paintjob, handmade sketches and video projections. It emphasises Yamamoto’s creative genius and his tasteful flirt with the provocative. The pieces defy expectations and surprise, both exciting and satisfying the senses – go and see it before it closes down on the July 10.

Biba At House Of Fraser

After a very successful first season, House Of Fraser has unveiled the new 2011 collection by Biba. The iconic 60′s brand enjoys strong revival in the capable hands of the HoF and has outsold all its other own brands almost immediately. The collection is quite comprehensive with a range of coats, tops, trousers and handbags, but Biba’s fantastic spring dresses are the cause of most ooh’s and aah’s. Choose between spring floral prints, chic floor-length maxis in luxurious silk and long-sleeve animal print shifts – all of which look fresh and modern with a pinch of romantic vintage feel.

Biba has expanded the collection with a small bridal capsule and some 1930′s Hollywood glamour inspired bed linen for Spring 2011. Like most of Biba’s new pieces, they’re not the cheapest around (something that original Biba founder Barbara Hulanicki believes “betray’s its heritage” of cheap and cheerful), but the quirky prints, vintage cut and character make it all worth it.

Available in stores and online at House Of Fraser now.
